Historical and Folklore Museum
The historical and Folklore Museum of Alonissos is an "ark"of knowledge in a place that is "flooded" with history and traditions. The impressive stone-built building that houses it is located in Patitiri. The museum is private and has been operating since 2001, on the initiative of Messrs. Konstantinos and Angelas Mavriki.
On the first floor of the Museum the visitor has the opportunity to admire ancient Greek relics as well as weapons or objects discovered on warships and pirate ships. It is a particularly interesting collection that "brings to life" the legendary life of pirates who acted from the 16th to the 18th century and still "star" in the imagination of young and old. In the basement there is the Folklore Museum that features traditional objects of Alonissos. From the barber's razor and the huge old press of the mill to traditional costumes, the museum guarantees a short but exciting journey into traditional island life.
